Multi-family Housing Pest Control Jobs

Done Right Pest Solutions staff emphasizes in quality multi-family housing pest control services. We spend most our day service multi-family housing properties containing anywhere from 20 units to 700 plus units. Services we perform range in quarterly services, monthly services, and weekly services.

We treat a lot of units, so sometimes multi-family housing pest control services can get mundane, but each and every unit is different as is the treatment amount and treatment variety.

Maybe a property has issues with roaches or bed bugs. Technicians need to continually have their inspection cap on, inspecting for these insect signs, placing monitors, following up on these monitors, treating accordingly. We actually get rid of pest issues in these multi-family housing properties!

If you’re looking for a job where you get in and get out of units quickly, a little spray here, a little spray there. We are not your company. Move on. We spend 30% or more time in units and at homes than your average pest control company. Why? Because quality is in our name. Sure, as you increase in knowledge and skill of insects and insect control, your speed and efficiency will increase. But in and out of properties in a couple of minutes? That’s not us.

We deal with pests. Plain and simple. If you’re looking for a pest control job, you need to have no fear of bugs and rodents. You need to be able to stay calm; assess pest situations; answer questions from tenants, homeowners, and property managers; and treat well. Follow-up is always a must as we clear units for pest issues.

Pest control jobs are hard work. They are manual labor jobs. There is a lot of moving around, getting on your hands and knees with flashlights or exclusion materials. There is a lot of moving of furniture to treat around items, moving appliances out and back in place. You need to be able to lift 50 pounds from the start and your stamina will increase over time doing the job as well.

You need to be presentable. While pest control can be a dirty job, we enter people’s homes. You need to appear presentable, have a smile, and have strong communication and customer service skills. Take pride in your work, work hard, and do a good job, that is the majority of what we ask of our techs. We wrote the study on what property managers should pay for pest control, so we have high standards to live up to!

Residential Pest Control Jobs

Done Right Pest Solutions offers residential pest control services, so you will need to be prepared for this pest control approach as well. In general, there is a big difference in terms of pest control services needed for multi-family housing properties and residential, single-family homes. Still, pests are stressful for homeowners, so pest control technicians need to be able to stay calm, assess pest situations, treat accordingly, and follow-up. Communication is key and people like to know what to expect. Managing expectations is a big part of customer satisfaction and we pride ourselves in our 5.0 star rating on all platforms, and we want to keep it that way.

Understanding seasonal pests and knowing what to look for with single-family homes will come in time and training. Being able to communicate about a property’s needs is a skill we strive to cultivate in our future employees.

Mosquito Control Jobs

Image highlighting proven strategies for mosquito control, ensuring a bite-free and enjoyable outdoor experience. Mosquito and tick control is another service Done Right Pest Solutions offers. If you’re looking for mosquito control jobs, we do offer them, however, it is just a small percentage of our business. Mosquito and tick control services require separate knowledge and licensing, so if you’re starting from scratch, this is something you can move up into being able to treat for.

Mosquitoes and ticks are outside pests and so we can never eradicate 100% of them. With thorough inspection, treatment, follow-up and routine service, we can generally control up to 95% of mosquito and tick populations from a yard, leaving a 5% contingency because mosquitoes and ticks can come from surrounding yards and land.

Still, it takes book knowledge and experience to be able to assess a property and notice breeding sites for these pests. We can treat preventatively so that way when it rains, any and all eggs that were laid there don’t hatch, or if they do, that they can’t breed.

Wildlife Removal Jobs

Photo of a gray squirrel in a live trap, indicating the importance of squirrel removal services, and quality pest control technician jobs.At this time, we haven’t been able to perform any wildlife removal jobs during the busy season of pest control. However, we do perform these services throughout the off season. Wildlife services require separate licensing and knowledge. If you like, you can move up into this area of pest control within our company.

Wildlife removal jobs require thorough inspection, placement and baiting of traps, and daily follow-ups to remove and relocate wildlife in under 24 hours, and repetition until the job is completed. At this time, we are unable to offer closing of openings larger than 1 inch in diameter, but we do refer clients to handyman services providers in the area. If you currently are a licensed contractor or have handyman skills, this could be a great addition to these services and we would love to have a conversation with you!

Expectations of Our Employees

Able to lift 50 pounds. Pest control is a manual labor job, so we are looking for individuals who can move in and out of tighter spaces and lift 50 pounds.

Customer service. We are looking for individuals with strong customer service skills. This is the only area that’s not always teachable, so if you have strong customer service skills and think you may enjoy a job in pest control but have no pest control experience: Apply anyways! We have on-the-job paid training and licensing experience.

Withstand the elements. A lot of what we do is outdoor pest control. You need to be able to be outside for several minutes to a couple of hours at a time during all seasons. Yes, if it is negative 40 degrees Fahrenheit out, we will reschedule exterior jobs, but in general your ability to be outside doing work is a big expectation.

Enjoy variety. Every day is different in pest control! Some will really like this, others may not. There is a lot of routine, but in general there is something new you will experience every single day. It is helpful for you, as an applicant, to enjoy variety.

Take initiative to learn on your own. Knowing more about the chemicals, equipment, and pest control technology will only make you a better pest control technician. While there are yearly trainings, licensings, and recertifications, we appreciate when our technicians look into different products and techniques on their own.

Complete training and recertifications. In order to maintain your pest control license, you need to attend the yearly MN Pest Control Conference and get recertified. Some licensures like mosquito and tick and wildlife licensures may require retests every couple of years to maintain the license.

Able to get on small ladders. Finally, there are a few jobs that require getting on ladders. Definitely not all, but some. It is preferred that you, as an applicant, be able to get on small ladders to complete some jobs.

I know this is quite the list, but it is often helpful to know what you may need to do ahead of time to know whether or not you would make a good pest control technician. Speaking of, check out our other post in which we explain 16 Reasons Why You Would Make an Amazing Pest Control Tech. Still thinking you’d be a good fit: apply now and schedule your first ride-along. Meet our techs, ask questions, get some on-the-job experience before making the decision to sign paperwork. But then, after that, sign the paperwork and get started making that sweet, sweet money.

Consistent, hard work. And in return, we offer a consistent, steady pay check. Gone are the days when you have to rush, rush, rush and get in 80 hours of different pest control jobs in order to make 5 or 10% of their value, while the rest goes to the company. We offer a stable, livable wage. We do have a wage gap, which is based on experience and licensing. If you have no experience or licensing, we offer paid, on-the-job training and licensing.
