Moles, Their Habits, and Your Yard

Most people can tell the difference between a mole and a vole, if they were looking at both of them. But, it can be difficult to tell the difference in activity, if you aren’t used to it.

Voles make trails in grass and eat the grass and plants from the roots. Moles make tunnels, completely underground. Their tunnels can range from shallow and close to the surface, to deep and up to 30 or more feet below the surface. It is important to be able to tell the difference between voles and moles.

Moles are solitary creatures, mating only once per year and after raising the pups, they leave and go off on their own. Which means, unless you have more than an acre or 2. The trouble is, that they are very mobile and can dig several inches per second, so you don’t often know where they are under your yard.

The Difference Between Mole Control and Mole Extermination (We Offer Both Options)

Depending on your yard size and location, you may only be able to have mole control efforts. Depending also on your yard size and location, you may be able to have complete mole extermination.

If you live in the city and there are simply moles in your neighborhood, we may be able to eradicate them quickly and easily. One thing to consider is that you can’t make your neighbors get pest control. Our 1x Mole Service would be a good fit for you and we should be able to offer complete mole extermination in these cases.

If you live in a suburb and there are moles in your neighborhood, but you don’t live next to parks, railroad tracks, a river or lake,  an airport, fields, a nature preserve, etc. (these are all places where moles roam free, and so we can only control them, not completely exterminate them), our 1x Mole Service would be a good fit for you.

If you live in a suburb or out in the country next to rail road tracks, a river or lake, an airport, fields, a nature preserve, etc. we would offer you our Seasonal Mole Service, which would extend the length of the season and manage their populations coming into your yard.

The outdoors is insects, rodents, and animals’ natural environment. If they are destructive or a nuisance, we can control populations of them. But, we cannot eradicate them in their natural habitat. This is why we are called Done Right Pest Solutions: Solutions of bringing together the correct approach of extermination and control to situations with pests.

Pest Control for Moles: Our 1x Mole Service and Seasonal Mole Service

Our 1x Mole Service consists of a first service and a follow-up to knock down the population. Then, we give a 1 month warranty. As described in the section above, small yards in the city or suburb, this service is typically doable, and can save you money. But, if you have a yard that abuts an area like railroad tracks, a park, the woods, etc. we would recommend our Seasonal Mole Service.

Our Seasonal Mole Service consists of a first service and follow-up to knock down populations, and then routine services to maintain populations. We schedule monthly services throughout the season, and if you see any new activity in between our visits, let us know and we will come back out, no additional charge.

The Difference of Done Right Pest Solutions

The difference of Done Right Pest Solutions is clear, check out our 5-star reviews as proof of our quality.

Other companies may offer 1x Mole Service or Seasonal Mole Service, but most if not all other companies use poison bait or poison worms in the tunnels. We don’t.

We’ve learned a lot over our 20 years of experience, and a lot of it is in our Ultimate Guide to Mole Control. The short of it is that people have pets that we would never want to dig up any bait in the ground. For this reason, we use our carbon dioxide machine to treat moles.

Our technicians pump CO2 into the mole tunnels, and then stomp them down. Then you can tell if any new activity is present, as there would be new tunnels in a day or 2. In our experience, by the time the follow-up service rolls around, it is not needed as there is no new activity. Then, if you have the 1x Mole Service, you have the 1 month warranty. Or, if you have the Seasonal Mole Service, you’ll have routine service for any new tunnels coming from the neighboring woods.

We are more than a pest control company that can get rid of your pests, or maintain the pests coming into your yard; we are a pest control company that cares.
