Mice can be resilient. They find a place to get inside your home or business in the fall or winter. They reproduce and leave disease and illness causing bacteria all over your property.
If you have mice, you can try setting traps or laying poisons yourself, though we would recommend at least consulting a pest control company for advice first. We even created our Complete Mouse Control Guide, which has our infographic of simplified information.
But getting rid of mice can be a lot of work and trial and error for the home owner or property manager. If you are in need of a mouse service, give us a call. We’d love to perform your mouse extermination service. 651-342-9489.
How mice get in your home
If you’ve ever wondered, “how do you get rid of mice?” you’ve probably also wondered, “how the heck did these mice get in?” These pests typically get into your home or business through the foundation somewhere. A mouse can squeeze through any crack that is a 1/4-inch in diameter. That is the size of the tip of an eraser!
Thorough inspection of your home’s or business’ foundation is crucial to mouse extermination! A steel wool or copper mesh may be placed in small cracks and crevices. For any other openings, a caulk or foam, or maybe even cement would be needed from a contractor.
If your home has an attached garage, porch, deck, or patio, you should check these areas. If your home has had any additions, we would recommend checking the foundation near these points as well. And finally, check near anything sticking out from your house, like vents, cable lines etc.
Here is a bullet point list to remember:
- laundry vent
- air-conditioning line
- around decks, patios
- under decks, porches
- along garage foundations
Helpful tips regarding mouse control
If you don’t know whether or not you have mice, that doesn’t necessarily mean you don’t have mice. Pests often go unnoticed for quite some time so it is important to know the warning signs of mice.
Mice hang out in the least active area of your home: think furnace rooms, crawl spaces, attics, laundry rooms. They shy away from living rooms and kitchens for the most part, but may venture into these areas in search of food at any time of the day or night, though mostly at night.

How we treat mice
Like our infographic, articles, and guide explain, we first start with an inspection of the property. This includes finding active areas in the home or business, finding entry points on the exterior of the property, etc.
Once the inspection is completed we close any points of entry where the mice could be getting in from (up to 1-inch in diameter). Our technicians use a copper wire mesh, which has properties to kind of stay stuck in small cracks and crevices where they put it.
After the closing of openings, our technicians will place rodent control devices in the basement, furnace room, laundry room, or other areas as they see fit for your needs. They will also be in communication with you about the devices.
If our techs use our commercial-grade rodent bait, it always remains in a locked, hard plastic bait station placed in a location where any pets or small children would be able to find it.
A 2 week follow-up is critical to determine the success of any mouse extermination service. Upon this follow-up service, the technician may suggest an additional follow-up for NO additional charge to you. If the tech does not, but you see any more mouse activity, give us a call.
We always offer a type of warranty for our one-time or year-round services. The mice service comes with a 3 month warranty! So, if you’re looking for an expert technician to perform a mouse extermination service, give us a call! 651-342-9489.
If you ever have more than 1 pest problem per year, or you simply want year-round mouse control and prevention, we would suggest reading up or asking about our Peak Seasons Plan. This is an annual pest prevention plan that is a one-time fee for a year of service! No hidden trip fees or anything. We even wrote a helpful article with FAQs regarding the service, check it out: How to Know if the Peak Seasons Plan is for You.
