Squirrels

Fast & Effective Squirrel Removal in Twin Cities Metro Area & Beyond

Squirrels can be cute. And while many like to feed them with feeders in the back yard, they become a nuisance when they barge into your attic or burrow into your shed.

Squirrels as Damaging Pests

Squirrels are similar to mice in that they make nests for their young. Squirrels give birth to live young.

Squirrels are noisier than mice. If you have mice in the attic, you will hear little pitter-patter most likely. If you peek up there you will see shredded insulation. Mice use the shredded insulation for their nests. If you’re hearing noises at night, it’s mice; but you will probably see other mouse activity.

Squirrels noises will be more like thump-thumps as they move around in your attic. You might start to notice that there is some water damage in the ceiling. This could mean they’ve been there for a while.

Squirrels try to find shelter in your home, like mice, in the late fall, before winter. If you walk around your home, you may find a small tennis-ball-shaped hole in your soffit or facia area. This is typically where squirrels get into homes. Squirrels will often peel back siding or soffit metal with their paws to make an opening.

If you have an opening the size of a melon, you may have raccoons instead of squirrels.

Finally, if you think you have squirrels, please give us a call. We would love to come inspect for squirrels, and whether it is mice or squirrels, we offer both services. We also waive any inspection rates upon services rendered.

Squirrel Removal & Relocation

Done Right Pest Solutions offers multiple options for squirrel removal and relocation. The most common method we use is live traps.

First the technicians will place the traps and add some bait. They continue throughout their day and may swing back at the end or the following day to check it. Most likely the bait is gone, so they add more and set the trap.

Then usually within a few hours to a day or so, depending on your situation, the trap will catch a live squirrel. If you are around, you can let us know, otherwise within that day or the following the technicians come back to replace the trap(s) with an empty one.

And they drive 10 miles or more away to relocate the squirrels. Did you know that squirrels are so smart that they can find their way back if you only bring them less than 10 miles away. It also helps to go over bridges, under bridges, cross over highways, etc. to confuse them. But don’t worry, they will make a new home elsewhere.

Sometimes the process is simple and there are only a few squirrels. Sometimes it is more difficult and there are dozens. It just depends. We have a one-time squirrel removal service to fit your needs and budget. The pricing varies based on the number of trips needed, so if you have few squirrels your cost will be low.

Done Right Pest Solutions does not have any licensed contractors on staff, and so we don’t warranty our squirrel service. But if you get the hole repaired as soon as possible, that will eliminate the squirrels’ ability to get in your home.

Residential Pest Control

Our animal removal services are separate from our seasonal services or year-round services. But often clients will see value in the services we have provided, and will hire us for additional services in the preventative round.

Seasonal services we offer are Mole services and Mosquito & Tick Plan.

Year-round service we offer is the Peak Seasons Plan. This service covers 99% of residential pests. So if you have squirrels, it’s not included, but we do perform squirrel removal and relocation services!

Commercial Pest Control

Occasionally squirrels enter into commercial buildings to nest or looking for food. Sometimes squirrels will make home in the roof of an apartment complex or near the trash receptacles.

Done Right Pest Solutions offers one-time squirrel removal services for commercial clients too. With a large squirrel population, we may use other traps. Or if they have burrows, we may use a humane carbon dioxide machine. It just depends on the situation and the urgency of the removal needs.

We can also add squirrel control onto any commercial service, like monthly service or quarterly service. Learn more about these service options on our Commercial Pest Control page.
