Mice Like Beanie Babies, Too!

Most folks have experienced mice in their home at some point in their life. Maybe you have seen activity in the basement, attic, or kitchen.

There is nothing more disappointing and off-putting than waltzing to the kitchen to get some of your favorite snack, only to find that a mouse had gnawed through the wrapping and munched some of your treats!

Or maybe you’ve been cleaning out some extra storage from downstairs and found some nests with lovely food scraps and mouse droppings.

Whatever your experience with mice, we can help! But we wanted to share with you a story from a client from Inver Grove Heights.

We hope you enjoy it.

Mouse Experience Story from Client — Mice Like Beanie Babies, Too!

Done Right Pest Solutions got a call from a customer a couple of years ago. This customer had had pest control with another company for 5 years and still had mice. When he called, we looked over his home via Google satellite and photos of the exterior from the internet. It had a front cement porch, but no low to the ground decks for the most part. Based on the age of the house and the features that we could see, we estimated that we should be able to solve their mouse issue without too much trouble.

Sometimes there are features or existing issues with homes that contribute to ongoing rodent problems. In these instances we can’t always eradicate the mice or 100% solve a mouse issue, so we typically offer our Peak Seasons Plan to these customers, especially for a year or two if they are planning on redoing their deck, or for a year if we need to wait until spring for them to pull up their deck boards.

We did not have those concerns with this customer’s home, and so we just recommended our 1x Mouse Service, plain and easy, no hassle, no trying to upsell, nothing. Just a simple service.

One of our master technicians, our expert pest exterminators, performed the service for this client. He started by going around the foundation and found several entry points where rodents were getting in. Then he inspected the interior of the home and strategically set up rodent equipment, or repurposed the previous company’s equipment, and stocked them full of a safe and effective commercial-grade bait.

We set up a 2-week follow-up right away, and there were a few other follow-ups the tech initiated. The tech found several more entry points as there was a warm spell where some snow melted away from the foundation. Ultimately, it took 4 follow-ups, but our master tech solved this customer’s mouse problem. It’s now been 2 years and he still doesn’t have mice.

While some companies simply set up rodent equipment to monitor and replace bait, we actually strive to seal up rodent entry points and SOLVE your mouse issue. Sometimes its a lot easier said than done, and chances are if you have a limestone foundation, we already know we will not be able to solve the issue as the foundation will crumble easily making it more accessible to feisty rodents looking to live through our frigid winters.

This customer told me the other day when I ran into him that he couldn’t believe they were still mouse free! He had also told me that his daughters had had a Beanie Baby collection in the basement in years past and he had recently went through those totes. He found mouse nests and mouse droppings all over in the Beanie Baby totes. The mice had gotten in there in years past and soiled the toys! This story gave me the idea to write about: Mice Like Beanie Babies, Too!

So, if you have storage you want to keep the mice out of, consider giving Done Right Pest Solutions a call next time you see or hear rodent activity in your home! 651-342-9489.

A Brief Recap of Our Complete Mouse Control Guide & DIY Mouse Control

Our Complete Mouse Control Guide has a TON of information for you to have at your fingertips. We go through the nitty-gritty, and explain step-by-step how you can get rid of the mice in your house too. Basically, the guide is a deep dive into everything rodent control: from telling how mice get in your home to different treatment methods, from which materials to use to seal up entry points to where to put the devices in your home.

So here is a brief recap of our Complete Mouse Control Guide.

How to know if mice can get in your home: Mice can squeeze in any gap 1/4 of an inch in diameter or larger.

How to know where to look for mouse entry points: Under low to the ground decks, around patios, around A/C lines, laundry vents, and any man-made protrusions from the home (wires, etc.).

How to trap mice: Once you’ve sealed up the rodent entry points around the outside of your home, we describe different methods you can take to trap or bait mice. We would not recommend using the repellant options until after you’ve killed all of the mice off.

How quickly do mice reproduce: The short story is FAST. The longer story is that if one pregnant mouse entered a structure and had an average of 7 pups in that first month, she could have another average of 7 pups the next month, and then if half of the pups are female and no mice die, one could have over 200 mice in their home by month 5!

In fact, Pest Management Professional calls the house mouse one of the mightiest of mammals due to its fast reproductive cycle and other factors. The magazine likens the mouse to the cockroach in terms of speed of reproduction!

Do mice carry diseases: The short answer is YES. The longer answer is that they carry several types of illness and disease causing bacteria and pathogens such as: Leptospirosis, Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome, Bubonic Plague, and more.

Commonly Purchased Mouse Services from Done Right Pest Solutions

Done Right Pest Solutions offers several rodent control options to fit your needs and budget. If you are a DIY-er, feel free to call to ask questions, or just check out our Complete Mouse Control Guide or other helpful blog articles that could help your situation.

We do offer a Mouse Inspection, but we don’t recommend this service option if you already know you have mice. This service is rendered typically for home sales and documentation.

We offer a 1x Exclusion Only Service, which is a great option for folks who want to use snap traps, humane traps, or other methods on their own on the inside of their home. It is a fraction of a full service cost, but is upgradeable to a 1x Mouse Service. We recommend upgrading within 2 weeks if you’re still catching the mice on the inside.

We offer a 1x Mouse Service, which includes the exclusion around the foundation, as well as interior commercial-grade bait placement and monitoring in 2-week follow-up increments at least once. This option comes with a 3 month warranty from the date of first service (so for upgrades, the first service was the date of the exclusion service).

Finally, we offer our year-round Peak Seasons Plan, which covers you for the whole year. This plan can start with the full mouse service and includes insect control as well. This option gives you a 12-month warranty, and is a very popular program.
